Proposal: The number of obese children in the US is growing rapidly and many think parents are to blame. critics believe that parents are in charge of cooking and teaching their children eating habits. Eating healthy and being active are all choices that one must make and parents are responsible for keeping children active and teaching them proper eating habits. Parents today are not doing a proper job on educating children on nutrition and therefore they turn to junk which most often leads to obesity. Parents turn to Fast food because it is convenient and cheap method to feed families however it is contributing to the growing number of obese children. For my paper I am going to research the role parents play in childhood obesity and what they can do to prevent it.
    Main points:
    • Obese parents contribute to the obesity of their children
    • Decrease in family budgets leads to cheaper foods, which are more likely to be fattening.
    • Parents are not pushing their children to exercise as much
    • How parents are risking their children’s lives by letting them become obese.
    • How parent-child interaction effects eating habits.

Conclusion: If parents illustrated better eating habits and educated their children on proper nutrition, the rate of childhood obesity would decrease. Many American parents today are extremely obese and it contributes to the obesity of their children. Without the proper exercise and eating techniques, children are going to continue to become obese. In order to prevent sickness in the future parents must promote activity and good eating habits to their children.

  3. The overall argument looks fine right now. Just work on arguing the individual points. I see the potential for poking holes in your argument.
