topic: drunk driving

thesis: Drunk driving has been a problem for years. If the laws were to be changed to be more strict, the number of deaths due to drunk driving and drunk drivers on the road would decrease.

Topic: the extent to which media, including print, televisions, movies, etc., affects teenagers in regards to underage drinking and partying.

Thesis: One’s teenage years are a rite of passage to grow and develop into a mature adult ready to enter the world and make decisions. There are reasons the United States has defined ages until a child can vote, buy tobacco, or consume alcohol. Drinking alcohol can be a very dramatic, life changing choice, leading to accidents, addictions, death, health problems, and criminal issues. Over the years, the media, through print, television, and movies, has drastically developed into means of affecting and influencing teens, at very young ages.

Topic: The effects of media on teenage body image.

Thesis: In our culture today teenagers are inundated by the mass media with pictures, videos, and advertisements of perfect body images and what our society deems attractive.  This influx of information can cause the youth of our society to strive for unrealistic body expectations, which can be dangerous when great lengths are taken to achieve them such as, but not limited to, anorexia, bulimia, plastic surgery, and other harmful methods.

For my research topic I will be looking into the affect that the Barbie doll has on young girls. I will be considering its' affect on girls body image and the way Barbie skews reality for the girls that love her. 

Thesis: Barbie has become a household name among young girls but the original purpose of creating such a doll has become shrouded in the problems with self image that Barbie has produced.

Thesis: Pro-life advocates are generally assumed to be conservative in the rest of their views. Currently, the Unites States uses an "opt-in" system for organ donation which a person must declare at an earlier time their wished for donating their organs. The United States should switch to an "opt-out" system because both recipients and donors would benefit from an opt-out system.

During all of this time, these illegal immigrants are using services such as public education and health care, all of which we, American citizens are paying for."

Topic: positions unavailable to women in the American military
Thesis: there are many positions unavailable to women in the United States military today; women are not allowed to participate in the infantry, armor  or special operations. Though some would argue that theses limitations are in place to protect the men, women, and operations of the united states military, they are actually sexist discrimination.

Thesis: Models, in many magazines and advertisements portray a negative image of women and young girls and how they are supposed to eat and look in their everyday lives. Thesis: Through magazines and advertisements, women get the perception of how they are supposed to look. This unrealistic form of beauty drives women to go to extremes to look "perfect." These extremes include surgery and eating disorders and often give women a low self confidence.

Thesis:Designed to reduce poverty, a high minimum wage is detrimental to the economy. The negative effects of a mandated high rate of pay are felt throughout the economy with decreases in hiring, increases in inflation, and a heavy reliance on government programs.
