My Topic and Thesis
Hey everybody! Ive heard some interesting conversations lately and decided I would like to write my research paper on "The Evolution of the Structure of the Modern Christian Church." For my thesis statement I have: "As the christian church has evolved it has choosen to change some structure, theologies, and practices and not others that may have made it less effective in reaching, teaching, and growing in the modern world."

Sounds like a good topic:) I'm just a little confused by your word choice. What do you mean by "not others"? Other what? Try to make it a little more clear!
ReplyDeleteI really like your choice of topic. I would be interested to read your final paper and see what you find with your research. I would also advise you to maybe clean up your thesis a little bit. It is really hard to follow and I'm not sure of the points you are trying to make. But like I said I think you will have a lot to research under this topic and it should be a really interesting one at that!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very interesting topic. I am personally do not have much knowledge on the topic; therefore, I'm very interested to see what you find out! I agree with Tyler that your thesis is a little hard to follow. I had to read it a few times to clarify so I would just try to make it straight forward. Also what type of points are you arguing?
ReplyDeleteI see one major problem with your topic: you speak of "the Christian church" as if it is all homogeneous. The topic you have would take thirty volumes of writing to do it justice. First, pick one denomination or two denominations that were originally united. Then pick one or two related aspects of the doctrine that you want to deeply explore. I would much rather you tell me a great deal about one or two facets of your topic, than for you to tell me a little bit about twenty facets.
ReplyDeleteStart over. Rethink your topic and thesis and post it again with your proposal.
