Topic and Thesis

Topic: The differences between the education system in the United States and the education system in Britain.

Thesis: Because studies in Britain are generally more narrowly focused and in depth than studies in the United States, which tend to cover more subject areas and don’t go into as much detail, the structure of Britain’s education system is preferable to that of the United States.

  1. Sarah, Sounds like an interesting subject! I have never heard much about this. I'm sure you plan on explaining this in the paper, but perhaps you could state who prefers the British educational structure over the United States and why.

  2. I feel like this topic is not interesting enough. I get enough about school already and would not enjoy reading more about it. But, from an English standpoint it seems well written for the most part. I would prefer you use the word "superior" in place of preferable and make the thesis slightly more specific.

  3. I think this is actually an ok topic...something that can be compared and it isn't to broad....stating some reasons why one or the other is better would help some...

  4. I would be interested to read this. I do think that the education system in the United States, perhaps especially in South Carolina, lags behind the rest of the world in some ways, so I'd be curious to know exactly how they do it in other countries. For this paper, it's good that you focused on Britain.

  5. Ah, finally the Grammar Nazi. lol, This sounds good. It sounds like you will do a compare/contrast paper. Remind me next class to show everyone how these are structured. I think "AW" is in need of a Spring Break, so that he can get away from school, as we all are.
